“It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken adults” – Frederick Douglas

I work with children and young people to help them process and make greater sense of their internal and external struggles, which leads to a greater capacity to embrace life not only as children and young people but also into their adulthood.

A Warm Welcome

Child and Young Person’s Therapist & Supervisor MBACP (Accred)

I imagine you are reading this because your child or you, if you are a young person are going through something difficult.

My heart lies with helping children and young people to thrive. I am passionate about and a firm believer in early intervention.

I work with children and young people aged 5-25. I work in person and online. I have therapy spaces in both East Wittering, Chichester, West Sussex and Greenford, Greater London.

Now more than ever young people need support to navigate the world they’re living in. From navigating friendships to immersion in online life, there are challenges that will take a lot of processing – alongside the already potentially turbulent time of being in a changing body while developing a sense of identity – and whatever else is going on in life.

If your child is struggling, it can be really difficult and worrying as a parent – and it might feel like a big step to decide to reach out to a counsellor/ therapist.

I am an integrative child and young person’s therapist & Supervisor. What does this mean you might be asking? It means I am trained in multiple therapy approaches. As every child/young person is unique, I use a range of therapeutic approaches in order to assess how best to support the young person in their counselling/therapy journey. Please see my therapy pages for further details.

I am often asked what the difference is between a therapist and a counsellor. The terms are broadly interchangeable. As counsellor I usually work with someone over a relatively brief period of time to address issues. Whereas as a therapist I will work with clients long term to resolve more deep-seated issues. There can be some overlap where counselling can form a part of a longer therapy process. I have experience in both long and short term work. As a counsellor/therapist I focus on the needs of the young person.

Counselling and therapy are both types of therapy that can involve talking about – or exploring through play, art and other creative materials – feelings, thoughts and experiences. I listen and pay attention to what is said both verbally and non-verbally.
I have a gentle and calm approach; I understand how daunting it can be for young people to come for therapy.

Through my experience working in schools, I have seen how young people’s emotional states and struggles can often impact heavily on their ability to learn and thrive in the school environment.

With all ages, I place great importance on building a trusting empathic therapeutic relationship and creating a safe and confidential environment where children and young people are accepted and valued as they are, allowing them to explore, process and express feelings, build confidence and develop resilience and self-reflection. Exploring issues and life experiences that are preventing children and young people from reaching their full potential or causing emotional difficulties.
